About the life in the UK test
Life in the UK test is a test for individuals wish to settle in the UK and it is a part of the application for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK or naturalisation as a British citizen . The test lasts for 45 minutes, the entrants have to answer 24 multiple-choice questions and is designed to test applicant's knowledge of life in the United Kingdom..
The test is based on chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 of a handbook (third edition) "Life in the UK Handbook 3rd Edition: A Guide for New Residents" which is released in year 2013 and also valid for tests taken in year 2017. You need to get at least 75% to pass this test. This is equivalent to answering 18 or more out of 24 questions correctly.
Everyone between the age 18 to 64 is required to pass this test as part of their citizenship or indefinite leave to remain (ILR) application
You don’t need to take the test if you're under 18 or over 65. If you are unable to do the test because of special circumstances, for example a long-term physical or mental condition; you will need to send necessary proof.
